Certain nationalities require an entry visa to be obtained prior to travel. It is recommended that you check with the Jordanian diplomatic mission in your country prior to travel to ensure that you have all the necessary paperwork for travel.
The cost of one entry visa for all nationalities is 40 JD (around $60) and, if not on the restricted list, can be obtained upon arrival at the airport, if not on the restricted list, can be obtained at the nearest embassy/consulate.
Groups of five persons or more arriving through a designated Jordanian tour operator with a government certified tour guide are exempt from all visa charges, provided the group arrives and departs together as well as stay a minimum of 2 nights in Jordan.
Arrivals at Aqaba, either through the port, the airport or at the crossing from Israel or Saudi Arabia, are granted a free visa to Jordan. There is no obligation associated with this visa, provided that you leave the country from the same border and within 1 month of arrival, and that you do not need to renew their visa.
All travelers must carry a valid passport for at least 6 months.
Most places of business in the capital Amman and Aqaba accept major credit cards and there are plenty of ATM's, except in smaller towns and villages. There are no local charges on credit card cash advances, but the maximum daily withdrawal is JD500. VISA is the most widely accepted card along with MasterCard.

The best time of the year to visit Jordan is in spring and autumn when the days are usually warm and the nights cool to mild; humidity is very low and there is little or no rain at this time. During the winter months (December to February), it can get very cold in the early morning and evening, with fog and freezing temperatures, so warm clothes are essential then.
Although Western clothing is quite acceptable, Jordanians are generally more traditional in the way they dress. Out of respect for local culture, please dress conservatively (i.e. no sleeveless or low cut tops etc). Shorts are accepted in main tourist areas. Women should cover their heads, arms and legs when entering religious buildings. At night in the desert, or during drives in open jeeps (especially from October to March), it can get surprisingly cold, so pack warm and windproof clothing. The following list is to be used as a guide, with our suggestions of items you may wish to pack:
CLOTHING
EQUIPMENT
The hotels we offer and use for our clients throughout any trip are either 3 star,4 star or 5 star hotel standards, based on the clients' needs. All are modern, clean and comfortable and offer friendly service and rooms with private facilities. Please be aware that alcohol will not be available in some hotels. The desert camp is more basic but still offers clean, well-maintained and comfortable accommodations with bed linen provided. You should also be aware that swimming pools at the hotels are often unheated and so can be cold in the winter months or even closed.
Included meals are indicated in the itinerary. Breakfast is generally continental in style – with some local additions – served with tea or coffee. The picnic lunch (where applicable) is simple but adequate. Dinner tends to consist of a buffet with a selection of Arabic and Western dishes; there is always one or more vegetarian options. Meals in the desert camp are hygienically prepared.
For meals not included in the itinerary you should allow $10 to $15 per person day to cover lunch and dinner. It is possible to eat quite cheaply in Jordan, but if you choose to eat in expensive restaurants you should allow a little more.
We recommend you drink plenty of bottled water during your trip, and if you have any special diets, please advise Jordan Inspiration Tours in advance and make our tour leader aware while on the tour.
Tipping is a recognized part of life and although at your discretion, you will be expected to reward good service. It should be remembered, however, that over-generosity could lead to jealousies in poor countries. Please remember that all tips should be a way for individuals to thank staff for good service. As a guideline, each person should allow as minimum of 15 US$ per day per person to cover the tips for local service providers

Please note that Ramadan is a month of fasting observed by Muslims throughout the world, during which time the followers of Islam should not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. There may be some limitations to services and disruptions to schedules during Ramadan, but generally our tours still operate effectively during this period and food is available to non-Muslims throughout the day in most countries. Please be aware of the local sensitivities during the day, and bear in mind that the evening breaking of the fast is usually an exciting and celebratory period!
Jordan is the safest country in the Middle East, regardless what might happen in the nearby regions. When walking in the towns and meeting locals, you will feel the warmth and the kindness of the Jordanian people.
