2Amman City tour - Jerash - Amman

Breakfast at the hotel, meet our driver and drive early morning to visit Amman, the Jordan's capital, mentioned in the Bible as Rabbath Ammon. The city is built on a series of jabals (or hills) and offers spectacular vistas at every turn. Towering above the city on Jabal Qala'a is the Citadel. This site has seen the rise and fall of most of the civilizations that have inhabited Amman for the past 7,000 years. Then we drive to the north of Amman to explore Jerash, so well preserved that you can almost hear the banter of the merchants and the creaking of chariot wheels along the cobblestoned streets. With a 2 hour guided tour, explore the breathtaking arches, temples and baths in an amazing state of preservation and completeness. Back to Amman for dinner and overnight.

3Amman - Mt. Nebo - Madaba - Kerak

In the morning after breakfast at the hotel and a short drive, we arrive to Mt. Nebo to retrace the steps of Moses and admire the spectacular view of the Promised Land just as he did over 2,000 year before. It is very easy to feel that you have arrived some place special. On a clear day Jerusalem, Jericho and the Dead Sea can be seen. A memorial in Moses’ honor can be found at the entrance to the early Byzantine Christian church on the site where Moses is believed to have died. Continue to Madaba to view the oldest preserved mosaic map of the Holy Land dating back to the 6th century BC located within the Church of St. George. Madaba is not only famous for mosaics but also for colorful, hand-woven carpets. Next stop, Kerak to visit the 12-century Crusader castle built over the remains of earlier citadels, some which date back to Nabataean times. The castle in itself is more imposing than beautiful, although it is an impressive example of the Crusaders' architectural military genius. dinner and overnight in Kerak at 3* hotel.

4Kerak - Dana - Petra

After breakfast at the hotel, start the day exploring one of Jordan’s loveliest hideaways and its most impressive ecotourism project - the 15th century stone village of Dana. Perched high on a cliff, this charming community offers spectacular views of Wadi Araba. View the terraced gardens and after admire the fine craftsmanship of the local art scene. Dana is known for its handcrafted silver jewelry, dried fruit, olive oil soap, and leather tanning. Continue along the scenic King's Highway to Petra, a long, meandering curvy road running through some of Jordan’s gorgeous countryside and small towns. It has been the route of north–south trade and the scene of battles since prehistoric times – but today is a simple byway, often rutted and narrow, which follows the contours of the rolling hills above the Dead Sea rift. dinner and overnight in Petra at 4* hotel.

5Petra - Little Petra

Breakfast at the camp, then we will start the Petra site visit. Petra is a UNESCO world heritage site and was recently voted one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. It is the legacy of the Nabataean's, an industrious Arab people who settled in southern Jordan more than 2000 years ago. We will arrange your entry tickets and hire for you a private English speaking site guide to explore the lower part of the city for 2.5 to 3 hours. Enter the site by navigating the narrow kilometer long Siq, or canyon. A horse and carriage can be arranged, if needed. The walls of the Siq are bursting with color from deep pink to purple to ocher. The path abruptly ends at an opening that reveals Petra’s most famous monument - the Treasury - carved into shear rock and towering over 40 meters high. Explore many of the over 800 individual monuments including buildings, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples, arched gateways, and colonnaded streets, that were carved from the kaleidoscopic sandstone by the inhabitants centuries ago. Deep in the Lost City you can also see Jabal Haron, better known as Aaron's Mountain. Soaring high on the peak is the tomb of Aaron. Late afternoon, continue to Little Petra where you will be welcomed to a very special Bedouin experience: an authentic Bedouin dinner, music, campfire and camping deep inside a secret canyon. The feeling you get here is magical! overnight in a mobile camping.

6Little Petra

Breakfast at the camp, then spend the day exploring Little Petra – a hidden gem that many travellers overlook. Although this is a much smaller version of Petra, it offers an intimate and mystical view of the day-to-day life of the ancient Nabataean's. It is believed to be a resting place for the ancient caravans traveling along the spice route. Enter the site through a narrow gorge called Siq al-Baird to view the tombs, temples, and dining halls. Near Little Petra, continue exploring the ancient Neolithic settlement of Beidha believed to date back to 7000 BC.It was an obvious location to choose as it occupied naturally defended ground, plentifully supplied with water from a nearby spring. Today one can still see the remains of walls of the early houses and plastered floors. Towards evening, return to the mobile camp for dinner and overnight.

7Little Petra - Elgi (Al Hai) - Little Petra

After breakfast at the camp, get ready for a 4x4 adventure to El Hai, an area high above Petra overlooking the village of Wadi Musa far below. The views from this peak are absolutely amazing! After enjoying a beautiful sunset, end the day at a desert Bedouin camp where you will be greeted with tea and a Bedouin dinner around the camp fire.

This site has seen the rise and fall of most of the civilizations that have inhabited Amman for the past 7,000 years. It is most noteworthy for the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace, and the remains of a small Byzantine Church. At the foot of the hill lies the 6,000 seat Roman Theatre, built in 161 CE, and which to much amazement is still used for cultural events today.
