2Amman - Desert Castles - Wadi Rum

Following breakfast at the hotel, our journey unfolds as we venture towards Wadi Rum in a 4x4, with a fascinating stop to explore the Desert Castles along the way. These remarkable structures, dating back to the 7th and 8th centuries, include three of the most impressive Umayyad Castles. The purpose behind their construction remains a historical mystery, with suggestions ranging from retreats for nobles to inns for weary travelers along trade routes or defensive fortifications. Regardless of their original use, these castles stand as awe-inspiring examples of early Islamic architecture.

Our exploration includes:

  • Qaser Kharanah: Crafted in the form of a castle, experts posit that it was a palace cleverly disguised.
  • Qaser Amra: Originally constructed as a bathhouse, its presence adds weight to the theory that these "Desert Castles" were primarily built for leisure rather than military purposes.
  • Qaser Al Azraq: Situated by the copious springs in the Azraq oasis, making it an attractive settlement, this castle is entirely built from local basalt stones.

As the day draws to a close, we will gather for dinner and settle in for an overnight camping experience amidst the captivating landscapes of Wadi Rum.

3 Wadi Rum

Following a satisfying breakfast at the camp, our off-road adventure in Wadi Rum continues, promising a day filled with exploration of numerous captivating sites. Highlights of our journey include:

Al Khazali: Discover the ancient wonders of Al Khazali, a site adorned with over 5,000 inscriptions that tell stories of times long past.

Rock Bridge: Marvel at the natural wonders of the Rock Bridge, a geological formation that stands as a testament to the forces of nature.

Abu Rush Rush: Explore Abu Rush Rush, immersing yourself in the unique features and stories that this site has to offer.

Lawrence Spring: Visit the famed Lawrence Spring, named after T.E. Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia, who left his mark on this remarkable landscape.

"Small Arch" and the Great Sand Dunes: Experience the beauty of the "Small Arch" and the awe-inspiring vastness of the Great Sand Dunes, witnessing the unique charm of Wadi Rum.

As the day concludes, we will gather for a delightful dinner and then settle in for an overnight camping experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility and beauty of Wadi Rum's desert landscape.

6Petra - Wadi Feynan*

Following a delightful breakfast at the hotel, the day unfolds with a journey into the legendary Rose Red city of Petra. Dating back over 2,000 years, this Nabataean marvel is nestled within a colossal rocky mountain, accessed through a high and narrow gorge. With monumental facades and awe-inspiring structures carved out of solid rock, Petra has earned UNESCO's recognition as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage" and a coveted spot among the New 7 Wonders of the World.

Upon reaching the Petra Visitor's Center, we'll organize a 2-3 hour guided tour led by an English-speaking site guide. The exploration will commence from the main gate, traversing the kilometer-long Siq to unveil iconic attractions such as the Treasury, Street of Facades, the Theatre, descending to the Nymphium and Qaser El-Bent. This guided journey will unveil the beauty of over 800 individual monuments, including buildings, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples, arched gateways, and colonnaded streets, all carved from the mesmerizing sandstone.

A delightful lunch awaits at Al Basin Restaurant inside Petra, followed by free hours to independently explore sites like the Monastery or the High Place of Sacrifice. The Monastery, reached after an 800-step ascent, stands as the largest rock-cut facade, its door surpassing the size of an average house. Meanwhile, the High Place of Sacrifice, believed to be the holiest Nabataean site, offers a thrilling walk with panoramic views.

In the afternoon, our journey continues with off-roading to Wadi Feynan, where dinner and an overnight camping experience in the tranquil surroundings of Wadi Feynan await.
