World Tourism Day: Jordan’s Hope for a Brighter Tomorrow

Every year on September 27, the world comes together to celebrate World Tourism Day — a day that reminds us of the power of travel to connect people, bridge cultures, create opportunities, and bring the world closer together.

Here in Jordan, tourism is much more than an industry. It is part of who we are. It is woven into our history, our traditions, our hospitality, and the warmth with which we welcome visitors from every corner of the world.

This year, however, the celebration comes with mixed feelings.

The ongoing tensions across our region have deeply affected tourism in Jordan. Behind the headlines are people, businesses, and families whose livelihoods depend on visitors. We feel the impact every day, and like many in our industry, we are waiting for better days.

Yet, we hope travellers will look beyond the headlines and see Jordan for what it is: a country with its own identity, people, and story. Despite the uncertainty in the region, Jordan continues to welcome visitors, and we look forward to the day when travellers feel confident to return.

On this World Tourism Day, our wish goes beyond welcoming tourists back. We hope for peace across our region, for people to feel safe to travel, and for tourism to once again bring communities together and create opportunities for everyone.

Jordan is here, its people are ready to welcome you, and we look forward to the day when the whole region can share in the peace and prosperity we all deserve.

Happy World Tourism Day from Jordan — with hope, resilience, and an open heart.
